SETTING UP A NEW BRANCH

 

Go to the General Ledger area. 

___ Listings Menu. 

___ Current Year Chart option.  Print/review your current chart of accounts.

 

If you wish to “copy” the accounts for an existing branch to create the accounts for the new branch:

___ Maintenance Menu. 

___ Cost Center Descriptions option.  Make sure descriptions exist for the current branch (the one that will be copied) and the new branch(es).

 

___ Maintenance Menu. 

___ Copy Chart of Accounts option.  You can create up to 5 new branches at one time.

 

If you do not wish to “copy” the accounts for an existing branch to create the accounts for the new branch, you can design the desired account numbers for the new branch based on the current chart of account format and then manually create the accounts for the new branch:

___ Maintenance Menu. 

___ Accounts option.  Set up new account numbers for the new branch(es).

 

Go to the Codes Listing Menu. 

___ Branch Offices option.  Print a list of your existing branch codes.

 

Go to the Codes Menu. 

___ Branch Offices option.  Set up the new branch code(s) needed for both temp and staff .

 

Use the PB250 command to set up co/branch authorizations for desired staff members.

 

Go to the Pay/Bill area. 

___ File Printing Menu. 

___ G/L Labor Distribution File option.  Print your current G/L labor distributions.

___ Payroll G/L Distribution File option.  Print your current Payroll G/L distributions.

___ Timesheet Hold Codes option.  Print your current timesheet hold codes.

 

___ File Maintenance Menu. 

___ Branch Offices option.  Set up the new branch code(s).

___ G/L Labor Distribution option.  Set up G/L Labor distributions for new branch(es).

___ (Optional) Payroll G/L Distribution option.  If there are employee deductions based on branch, set up the new deduction codes (any deduction codes where an expense account is identified as the liability account).  Reminder: if you are setting up a new pre-tax deduction code, remember to select the Deductions: Pre-Tax option to indicate which taxes the deduction is/is not subject to. 

___ (Optional) Timesheet Hold Codes option.  If there are timesheet hold codes based on branch, set up new timesheet hold codes.

 

Sign onto the STAFF area by using your STAFF user ID. 

___ File Printing Menu. 

___ G/L Labor Distribution File option.  Print your current G/L labor distributions.

___ Payroll G/L Distribution File option.  Print your current Payroll G/L distributions.

 

___ File Maintenance Menu. 

___ Branch Offices option.  Set up the new branch code(s).

___ G/L Labor Distribution option.  Set up G/L Labor distributions for new branch(es).

___ (Optional) Payroll G/L Distribution option.  If there are employee deductions based on branch, set up the new deduction codes (any deduction codes where an expense account is identified as the liability account).  Reminder: if you are setting up a new pre-tax deduction code, remember to select the Deductions: Pre-Tax option to indicate which taxes the deduction is/is not subject to.
